Closing of web site
This is to regretfully announce that this web site will no longer be in production. As much as we would like to help and have tried to help in many ways, it has become painfully clear to us, that many people are fearful of speaking out loud or in any public way at all. There is good reason for this and we totally understand that. Still, at least for right now, we need to step back and reorganize our own lives and objectives. We will leave the information up that we have posted so far in the hopes that it might help someone out there who is struggling in the mistaken belief that they are all alone.
We wish everyone the very best of luck on your journey through this system.

In the Shadows of Seniors Care in BC
Beautiful buildings and glossy advertising, of Long Term Care Facilities, appear to us to be a, seemingly, well planned smoke and mirror show to hide what goes on behind closed doors. From our view point, dangerous understaffing, bad practices, cost cutting and new levels of slip shod training, often leave the people who built this province to live the last of their lives in degradation and hopelessness. They won't talk, for fear of causing trouble, or suffering retaliation from the facility. Instead they quickly learn that there is nobody around to hear their screams or calls for help. To the absolute shame of any and every responsible person in this province, these fragile, elderly people, are left to do their crying, alone in the shadows.

First installment for this page. Please send us your stories. We really want to hear from you!
April 29, 2010:
Please Take a Minute to Read this Press Release Issued by the BC Health Coalition
Please Write to Your Local MLA and the the Premier's Office as Well, to Insist on Changes to the Standards of Care Currently in Place, for Long Term Care Facilities in BC.
On this page, as well as subsequent pages within this site, are email addresses for key players in the system who decide on policies and standards of care. These people are some of those responsible for setting numbers of staff legally required to be on site. It is our chosen belief, in our attempts to be positive and fair, that perhaps these people are simply not aware of how those numbers actually look in everyday, real life. It is difficult to know how something translates from a piece of paper drawn up in an office, often hundreds of kms. away, to the actual lives which are effected by it.
If you, like us, are having issues with the current standards for Long Term Care then how do we all go about changing that for the better?
We have tried just about every way we can think of, so we are asking for your suggestions and cooperation.
How do we push for legislative changes?
What steps do we have to take to get to that point?
